Quick Cleaning Tips for MP3 Players

mp3 players need to be wiped down as well. Refer to manufacturers instructions for your particular model. mp3 players with screens need special care.
Do not use paper towels as they may scratch the surface. Instead use a clean, soft, dry cloth. For more intense cleaning, try an ammonia free glass cleaner on the same type of cloth. Ear buds and cords may need to be wiped down as well.
If your mp3 player has been spilled on, it may need a cotton swab dipped in cleaner to get dirt out of the crevices. There are some commercially available scratch restoration kits that will minimize scratches. Consider investing in a case for your mp3 player.

Quick Tips for Cleaning a DVD Player

VD players attract as much or more dust as the other electronics in our home. Be sure to dust with a microfiber cloth or electrostatic duster at least weekly, to keep your model running smoothly.
The insides of our DVD player can get dirty and dusty too. A great tool is a DVD disc cleaner. This cleaner looks just like a disc with some extra little brushes on its surface. Some DVD cleaner kits even come with supplies to clean and modify scratches on your discs.

Quick tips to clean television

Televisions are more of a magnet for fingerprints and dust than any other electronic device in our homes. Whether it is your husband pointing out a blatant case of holding from a rival NFL team, or your daughter pointing out her favorite cartoon character, our TVs tend to be touched. How to clean your screen depends on your screen type. For all televisions please read the manufacturers instructions. Also be sure to unplug your television when cleaning with damp cloths or cleaning solutions.
Plasma- Use only a microfiber or 100 % cotton cloth. Try dry dusting first, but if needed, create a damp cloth using water only. If you need a little more power try adding a small amount of vinegar to the water.
LCD- Use only a microfiber or 100 % cotton cloth. Try dry dusting first, but if needed, create a damp cloth using water only. You can also add vinegar to water to use as a cleaning solution. Dry quickly with a separate soft cloth. Make sure the surface is completely dry before turning the television on. Do not push on the screen of the television, it can permanently damage your picture.
Conventional- While older televisions can usually be cleaned with glass cleaner and a paper towel, some newer models still have special coatings on the surface that could be scratched and damaged. If your not sure about your television, the best thing to do is use a soft dampened cloth.
Projection- Projection televisions that have a special plastic screen over the actual television screen can be cleaned with a damp soft cloth. The screens can be damaged by paper towels and heavy duty cleaners. Projection televisions without a shielding screen will need special consideration, so refer to your owners manual.

Maintenance for your computer

A typical maintenance routine for your computer includes caring for your computer screen and dusting your components.
For your screen, a quick dusting with a clean soft dry cloth will usually do the trick. If your screen is especially dirty, try either a commercial cleaner made for your screen type, or an ammonia free glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol mixed with water. Never put the cleaner directly on the screen surface. Instead apply the liquid to a clean soft dry cloth.
For dusting, use a clean soft dry cloth to go over all the surfaces of your computer. Microfiber or electrostatic cloths work well at trapping dust. Pay special attention to the fan vents, and make sure that they aren't blocked by dust. Compressed air can also be a useful tool when cleaning dust from computer surfaces. Do not forget to dust underneath your computer and the cords to your computer which can collect dust.

Quick Cell Phone Cleaning Tips

Cell phones during a typical week will only need a quick wipe down with a dry cloth, or with a baby wipe. If a spill happens, turn off your phone, take out the battery, and use a soft cleaning cloth with a little isopropyl alcohol as your first line of defense. For sticky spills that stick in crevices, turn off your phone, and try a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol rubbed around the button surfaces and crevices.
And although I recommend it as a complete last resort with the understanding that it may be ruined forever, I was once successful at resurrecting a cell phone that had been washed and dried, by pouring isopropyl alcohol over it after I had taken it apart and letting it dry out completely.

How to make a bed

It seems so easy to leave a bed a jumbled mess when you wake up. After all, you're only going to mess it up again in a matter of hours. Making a bed has become one of those chores that very few people bother with, but a made bed has a dramatic impact on the way a room looks and feels. Find out a few simple steps to make a bed, and make your room appear less cluttered and chaotic.
Here's How:
  1. Gather Supplies
Choose bed linens that are comfortable and beautiful for you. If you like the way a bedskirt makes your room look, then by all means grab your favorite. If you're more minimalistic in your bed linen approach, that's fine too. A bed that is made, however simply, is still a major improvement over a mass of pillows and blankets.
  2. Remove Used Linens
Take off the used linens and put them in the laundry. Shake out any mattress pads, pillow protectors, and comforters that don't need to be laundered. If you use a bed skirt and it needs to be laundered, remove and replace it.
  3. Put the Bottom Sheet On
If your bottom sheet is fitted, simply slip the corner pockets onto the ends of the bed and adjust the fitted sheet around the perimeter underneath the mattress pad and mattress. If your bottom sheet is flat, arrange the sheet so that 1 foot of sheet hangs over the edge of the top of your bed. Beginning with the sides of the bed create hospital corners and fold under the mattress and mattress pad. Continue on each side, creasing and folding as you go.
  4. Add the Top Sheet
Place the top sheet evenly on the bed, and fold under with hospital corners only at the end of the bed. I like to leave the sides untucked, making it easier to get into the bed, but if it is a guest bed that is only rarely used, or you're a stickler about folding under, you can tuck under the sides as well. Just remember your comforter, quilt, or duvet will likely cover up the little bit of sheet hanging down.
  5. Add a Blanket, Comforter, or Duvet
Smooth your choice of blanket evenly over the top of the bed, smoothing the edges as you go.
  6. Add Pillows
To place pillows under the blanket, fold the top sheet down over the blanket. Place pillows flat on the top sheet at the head of the bed. Fold blanket over the pillows towards the head of the bed, and smooth. Pillows can also be laid upright against the head of the bed. Do what makes the bed have that finished look that you love.

Tips:

  1. The more days in a row you make your bed, the faster you'll be at it. Before long, you'll rival the fastest bed makers around.
  2. Rotate your pillowcases twice a week, and your bottom sheet once a week. These items get the most wear and tear.
  3. Use mattress pads and pillow protectors to lengthen the time needed between laundering and protect your linens and mattress.

Bed linens

Bed linens make a big difference in the atmosphere of a room. They also make a big difference in how you'll sleep. We take a lot of time to choose our bed linens. Now find out what to do to keep them in great condition.
Here's How:
  1. Read Labels Before You Buy
Read the care labels before you buy your bed linens. Find out what it is going to take to keep sheets, comforters, quilts, and pillows in top condition. You may change you mind about the beautiful comforter when you realize it is dry clean only.
  2. Buy an Extra Set
The most wear will come to your bottom sheets and pillowcases. To try to influence more even wear, get an extra set of these now.
  3. Change Linens Weekly
In most homes, changing bed sheets weekly is your best bet to keep your bed fresh and comfortable, and to protect your linens from excessive wear. Pillowcases may need to be changed twice a week. Your comforter, duvet, and quilts will only need to be laundered monthly.
  4. Follow the Care Label
Most sheets and pillowcases should be washed in cool water with less detergent than a regular load would take, unless the linens are heavily soiled. For comforters, duvets, and quilts be sure to follow the care instructions. Most home washing machines are not big enough to wash full size or larger comforters. When in doubt, take your prized comforter, duvet, or quilt to the dry cleaners.
  5. Don't Overdry
Take out bed linens as soon as they are dry and fold right away. If sheets are wrinkled, try throwing a wet sock or washcloth back into the dryer for 10 more minutes.
  6. Rotate Linens
Rotate your bed linens to promote even wear. The set that comes off your bed should go back in the linen closet and a new set should go on. This will insure that your linens are evenly worn.

Tips:

  1. Use a gentle wash cycle and avoid using bleach to protect linens.
  2. Use a mattress pad between mattresses and sheets to extend the life of both.
  3. Pillow protectors can be bought and used to prevent frequent laundering of pillows.
